Liberty lands Lakeside

The Directors here at Liberty are delighted to announce that Liberty Hygiene Ltd has been chosen to be the washroom services provider for Essex’s iconic shopping centre; Lakeside Shopping Centre, West Thurrock. From its opening in 1990 it has grown to today to be one of the largest shopping areas in a single location in Europe!

Innovation for Lakeside

One of the main reasons for the contract to be awarded to Liberty was because of the new and highly innovative Velair Pebble hand dryers.  Lakeside  has quite literally millions of people passing through every year and many stopping to spend a penny as well as pounds!  Therefore  they needed reliable dryers that could be changed quickly and easily in the unlikely event of a break down.  These Pebble dryers just click onto a back plate which means that anybody can change the dryer with no electrics being touched.  How handy is that?

Liberty are also installing state of the art Ecobreeze smart air cleaner/freshening units. These units report in real time via a customised app to the centre management on occupancy of the washroom.  Building managers often underestimate the usage of washroom areas.

This enables Lakeside staff to be on top of washroom cleaning and maintenance, never running out of soap or toilet rolls by directing cleaners to the washrooms when they are needed most……and keeping the toilets clean even after exceptionally busy periods.  Visitors  feel reassured and well-looked-after when a cleaner is in attendance during busy times.

Liberty are also supplying 100 feminine hygiene bins and nappy disposal units throughout the centre. We’ll be servicing the entire site twice a week which means a lot of miles for our operatives – one way to keep fit!  You can see our equipment on site from the 14th of June.

We’ve waited a long time

Scott Marshall, CEO and Founder of Liberty Hygiene, says “This account was really special to me, as I’ve been a regular customer over at Lakeside for a long time and always said to myself that one day Liberty’s products will be on the wall.  They are now – job done!”

Some facts and figures from Lakeside

As we mentioned earlier, Lakeside is one of the largest shopping areas in Europe so some facts and figures to amaze

When did it start – the centre is on the site of a former chalk quarry and was opened in 1990

What’s there  – the main centre has over 250 shops, 50 cafes and restaurants and even its own lake with a diving school complex.   There are also several additional retail parks at the development.

Getting there – The centre has a direct link to Chafford Hundred railway station where c2c trains run to London Fenchurch Street via Upminster and West Ham or east towards Southend Central via Grays and Stanford-le-Hope.

The Centre is connected to the M25 motorway which is London’s outermost ring road running south towards Dartford and Gatwick and North towards Enfield, Watford and Heathrow. As well as the M25 the centre is connected to the A13 road which connects central and east London to Basildon and Southend-on-Sea.

It is connected to the Transport for London bus network by 370 to Romford and 372 to Hornchurch with other operators such as Ensignbus to the surrounding Thurrock area and First’s route 100 to Basildon and Chelmsford.
