Ever wondered about the logistics behind major sporting events? For example, who looks after the washrooms and toilets. We tend to now take it for granted at events like The Open Golf Championship held recently at Royal St George’s, Sandwich, Kent, that the toilets will be fresh and clean with a never ending supply of consumables and never an overflowing bin in sight.
We’ll let you into a little secret: it’s all about teamwork, partnerships and networks.
We were immensely proud to be part of the team at Royal St Georges and it was all through our networks and partnerships. Here’s how we contributed.
Generally larger events solutions specialists will bid for supply of a whole range of services. In the case of the recent Open Championship it was Spectrum Service Solutions who were successful. They are an award winning provider of contract cleaning and facilities management services in the UK. Their business has been built upon trust and the ability to deliver outstanding cleaning and support services to our clients. In fact Spectrum have probably been the FM company behind the smooth background running at many events you may have attended. Take a look at their website and you will be amazed.
In turn, these large contracts are often then broken down to smaller packages for specialist businesses to provide their own areas of expertise.
With us so far?
Wilson Washrooms are a preferred supplier of washroom services to Spectrum Service Solutions so it was them they turned to for the washrooms supplies element of the contract. Now if you do click on the link to read more about Wilson Washrooms you will see they are based in Scotland. A long trip to Kent with a truckload of equipment.
Wilson Washrooms are part of the IWSA – a group of smaller independent Washroom Services providers. By working together these independent business can give cover across the UK and thereby offer true competition to the national providers but with personal service. So, rather than ship a whole load of equipment down to Kent, Wilson Washrooms got in touch with a fellow member based in the South East who is well known for their friendly, timely and reliable service provision: Liberty Hygiene of course!
Our small contribution to the smooth running of one of the major global sporting events was the delivery and uplift of 400 feminine hygiene bins and 25 nappy bins. The job was done at both ends of the contract overnight to ensure minimal disruption on site. Smoother than the 18th hole green!
Spectrum Service Solutions, of course, supervised the entire operation and our special thanks must go to Sara and Rebecca who linked all this together.
