The past few months have forced many businesses to regroup and rethink. Quite literally overnight, offices closed, buildings shut down and hotels, restaurants and bars shut their doors. This had a catastrophic effect at Liberty Hygiene Services of Southend with over 80% of their regular service sites suspending contracts.
However, true entrepreneurial spirit was alive and kicking as Scott Marshall (Managing Director) and his brother, Glenn, Operations Director hatched a plan, called in their worldwide network of suppliers and contacts and set up an operation to supply PPE and Janitorial supplies.
Response was overwhelming as their customer base knew they could trust the Liberty team to supply quality goods on time and at a fair price. So much so this move kept the company alive and kicking and has safeguarded the jobs of 50+ employees.
Scott Marshall said “This was one of those times that being an independent company and with a hands-on management team was absolutely perfect. We were able to become operational with this new arm of the business in a matter of days and are delighted to be doing our bit to get Britain back to work, safely. But we also care deeply about our local community and wanted to help others at the same time. So, we have donated hundreds of washable face masks to the local branch of Age Concern and SAVS. Staff and customers at their various outlets are safer and anyone coming into their premises can pick up a face mask for free”
SAVS (Southend Association of Voluntary Services) is an independent charity known as a council for voluntary service or CVS. That means they work behind the scenes to help local charities and community groups achieve their full potential. A great partnership for Liberty Hygiene to be able to reach those who are in the most need of top quality PPE.
Scott finished by saying “If any other local charity or group needs help with the supply of face masks or other PPE, give us a call at Liberty Hygiene here in Southend on 01702 483833 and we’ll see what we can do.
